KATHARINA BLEINIS
Hi! I’m Katharina Bleinis, but you can call me Kat. I live in Squamish, B.C., on the ancestral lands of the Skwxwú7mesh Nation. I’m a yoga teacher and somatic movement facilitator with over a decade of experience. Currently, I am teaching at Ritual Urban Retreat in Vancouver, B.C.
I hold an advanced 500-E-RYT in Hatha with over 3000+ hours spread across teaching, facilitating trainings, and retreats across Asia and North America. For many years I practiced in Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Hatha Yoga which has greatly influenced aspects of my asana teachings and attention on alignment. These days, I welcome more freedom and intuitive movement into my practice to invite students to connect to their most embodied state which focuses on students own internal rhythms. My style of teaching today intersects asana, movement, breathwork (pranayama), energetic tapping and shaking, meditation, sound, and inquiry as tools to understand and explore the inner landscape of Self.
Alongside movement, I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Counselling at City University of Seattle, with a focus on trauma therapy and mood disorders. I am particularly interested in pursueing training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing, and Internal Family Systems. Drawing on my background in somatics, yoga, and breathwork, I aim to offer a holistic approach to healing the wounds of trauma that integrates the body, mind, and nervous system.
